Among Willows
"I want to be the sky," said the boy
with a shy grin. "It is the only
beautiful thing."
The sun rippled the clouds and shot
arrows of brilliance through the air.
We all see why.
The boy turned his face to the ground,
said sadly and frowned, "Can I
please evaporate?"
Birds guard the door to morning, while
invisible lions defend evening's gate.
They roar wind.
How cool to drift lonely as a cloud
across the pond and down to where
swans swim. "Or
I could be water in a river," the boy
mumbled as he combed his fingers
through his hair.
